Earth is an exploration of texture and the use of natural pigments.
During a stay in the south of France, I produced a series of quiet, meditative abstract paintings rooted in landscape and with no pre-ordained plan or structure.
As with all paintings, a piece develops within certain parameters. Mine are: limited form, dominance of colour, internal light and relationship between light and dark.
Acrylic layers and pigments are build up layer upon layer to arrive at a seductive finish where form and colour are secondary to the different surface qualities that are a result of this process.
